Microneedling Treatment
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment designed to improve the appearance and health of the skin. The procedure uses a specialised device with very fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin’s surface.
These tiny micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin — two essential proteins responsible for skin firmness, smoothness, and elasticity.
Microneedling can help improve a range of skin concerns including:
-
Fine lines and wrinkles
-
Acne scars
-
Uneven skin texture
-
Enlarged pores
-
Hyperpigmentation
-
Sun damage
-
Dull or tired-looking skin
As the skin repairs itself, it becomes smoother, firmer, and more radiant over time.
Treatment Duration
A typical microneedling appointment takes 45–60 minutes depending on the area being treated.
This usually includes:
-
Skin consultation and assessment
-
Cleansing and preparation of the skin
-
The microneedling procedure
-
Application of soothing serums and aftercare products
Some clients may benefit from a course of treatments, typically spaced 4–6 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.

Pre-Treatment Instructions
To ensure the best results and reduce the risk of irritation, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:
-
Avoid retinol, retinoids, and exfoliating acids (such as AHAs/BHAs) for 72 hours before treatment.
-
Do not undergo chemical peels, laser treatments, or strong exfoliation for 1–2 weeks prior.
-
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 48 hours before your appointment.
-
Arrive with clean skin, free from makeup if possible.
-
Inform your practitioner if you are using prescription skincare, antibiotics, or acne medications.
-
Please notify us if you have any active skin infections, cold sores, or open wounds in the treatment area.

Aftercare
Proper aftercare is important to support healing and maximise results.
Immediately after treatment, your skin may feel warm, tight, or slightly sensitive.
For the first 24–48 hours:
-
Avoid makeup if possible.
-
Do not touch or pick the treated area.
-
Avoid intense exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers.
-
Use only gentle skincare products recommended by your practitioner.
For the next 3–5 days:
-
Keep skin well hydrated with a gentle moisturiser.
-
Avoid exfoliating products, retinol, and active ingredients.
-
Apply broad-spectrum SPF daily to protect the skin.
Additional tips:
-
Mild redness is normal and usually subsides within 1–2 days.
-
Light flaking or dryness may occur as the skin renews itself.
-
Results will continue to improve as collagen production increases over the following weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is microneedling painful?
Most clients find the treatment very tolerable. A topical numbing cream can be applied before the procedure to minimise discomfort. You may feel a light vibration or mild scratching sensation during treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your skin concerns and goals. Many clients notice improvement after one treatment, but for best results we often recommend 3–6 sessions spaced several weeks apart.

Is there any downtime?
Microneedling has minimal downtime. Your skin may appear slightly red or flushed, similar to mild sunburn, for 24–48 hours after treatment.
When will I see results?
You may notice a brighter complexion within a few days. Collagen production develops gradually, so improvements in texture, tone, and firmness typically become more visible over 4–6 weeks.
Can microneedling treat acne scars?
Yes. Microneedling is commonly used to improve the appearance of acne scarring by stimulating collagen in the deeper layers of the skin.
Is microneedling suitable for all skin types?
Microneedling is generally safe for most skin types and tones. However, it may not be suitable if you have certain skin conditions such as active infections, severe acne, or specific medical conditions. A consultation will determine whether the treatment is appropriate for you.
